Working in collaboration with Diana Lee (Dillon + Lee Gallery) Professor Anna Fox and Maria Kapajeva, from the University for the Creative Arts (UCA, UK), have organized the second research workshop bringing together both significant and early career professionals from the fields of photography, art and gender studies. Presentations and open discussion will take place over the two-day workshop around ideas and themes concerned with the work and position of women photographers today. This workshop in New York will be an opportunity for local, national and international participants to exchange knowledge and promote future collaborations. The workshop takes place at the same time as a number of interesting exhibitions concerned with women and photography including Trigger: Gender as a Tool and a Weapon at The New Museum, NSFW: Female Gaze at The Museum of Sex and King Woman at Pen + Brush Gallery and solo shows such as Carey Young at Paula Cooper and Nathalié Boutté at Yossi Milo creating the opportunity to discover the wealth of photographic culture celebrated here.
