Anne Parisio is DFSA Year 1 Unit leader, after 26 years in the broadcast industry as a documentary Producer Director. Alongside Anne’s work at the UCA she is developing a film project with Stormont House in Hackney where she teaches filmmaking one day a week to children with special educational needs. Video shot by the children will be combined with Anne’s observed material to convey a view of the world from their unique perspective.
Negotiating an ethical filming protocol with staff and parents is fraught with complications but obviously crucial when working with vulnerable contributors.
Considering the ethics of representation is fundamental to all artists and filmmakers working with material from the real world and underpins the workshops Anne runs to ensure students think carefully about their responsibilities to both the people they work with and their audiences.
